The chief of the Mig-29 Fulcrum's design staff once said of the Mig-29 and F/A-18 Hornet, "Similar performance requirements produce
similar designs."
The same can be said of World War 2 aircraft.
For example, the Me-262 Sturmvogel and P-80 Shooting Star --- although they LOOKED nothing alike --- were discovered after the war to have virtually identical flight performance.
