shuttle Galileo 5

The Galileo, designated Shuttlecraft 5, was a shuttlecraft assigned to the USS Enterprise-A following its commissioning in 2287. At that time, the transporters were still non-operational, so Uhura took the Galileo to Yosemite National Park in order to recall Captain Kirk, Spock, and Dr. McCoy after the Enterprise was ordered to Nimbus III.

The Galileo later transported a Starfleet security force to Nimbus III in order to rescue the hostages taken by Sybok. Sybok was able to thwart their plans, and forced Kirk to take him back to the Enterprise onboard the Galileo. At the same time, a Klingon Bird-of-Prey commanded by Klaa arrived. He tried to attack the Enterprise and the Galileo necessitating a quick landing, executed by Commander Sulu, dubbed landing "Plan B". The Galileo entered the hangar deck at full power, without tractor beam assistance, and was captured by a net barracade, suffering severe damage to its undercarriage. Very nice.
Although isn't this the Galileo-5 from "Star Trek V" not the episode your comments describe?
